I've had my mtDNA done and traced my German mtDNA female ancestors back to the late 1600's. I've also been able to find my grandfather's German ancestors back to the late 1600's My father's ancestors are from Wales. I was fortunate enough to have a distant cousin in Wales contact me out of the blue and give me information about my father's paternal ancestors back to 1700.
