Joyce started her working career circa 1951 at John Martin's Retail store and after a few months moved to Myer in the Jewellery Dept.  After spending several years raising her children, she re-entered the workforce in 1975 as an off-set printer for TAFE, where she took on additional roles as Staff Mediator and Equal Opportunity.  She became a Justice of the Peace and her last role before retirement was with the Taxation Office.
