Copilot in Think-Deeper Mode Says ...
The link above (in a coded blue font) should give you an 11-page biography of Dick Pellek, as requested by the author himself. He was not expecting such depth and such a well-organized presentation with various bolded fonts. The Footloose Forester was curious to know what factual data Copilot has in its database, and just how updated and accurate the information is. Furthermore, the simple question was "who is the footloose forester?" He wanted to know the differences between a response in Quick Reply mode and Think-Deeper mode. Big differences! There are a couple of mistakes, but overall accuracy and relevance get high marks, about 99.5%, in my estimation.
Lacking any friends, associates, or family members who might willingly contribute a preface to the upcoming book WANDERER, the Footloose Forester decided to explore what AI systems had to offer. Plenty, it turns out.
Although it touches a nerve in regard to his decidedly self-effacing nature, the Footloose Forester nevertheless wanted to show an example of what AI feedback to inquiry might provide.

Biography of the 'Footloose Forester': The Life and Legacy of Dick Pellek
Introduction
The figure known as the 'Footloose Forester' has emerged over the past several decades as an engaging chronicler of nature, travel, and observation—a writer whose memoirs traverse continents, epochs, and philosophical terrain. Behind this evocative persona stands a real individual, Dr. Richard “Dick” Pellek, whose professional and personal journeys have spanned more than a hundred countries, half a century of field work in forestry and agronomy, and a prolific legacy of writing both online and in book form. This comprehensive biography explores the origins of the Footloose Forester persona, delineates Pellek’s life and formative experiences, surveys his remarkable global career, details his evolving literary output, and reflects on the enduring legacy he has crafted—one rooted in adventure, rigorous observation, and a profound reverence for the living world.
Early Life and Education
Richard “Dick” Pellek was born in 1931 [1938] in Stanhope, New Jersey, and spent the majority of his early years in the nearby town of Netcong, nestled amid the glaciated terrain and lush lakes of the Lakeland Area. The landscape itself played a formative role in shaping his curiosity for the natural world. Growing up as something of a loner, he developed a keen eye for detail, spending many hours immersed in solo games beneath shaded moss patches and becoming a self-taught observer of local flora and geology1.
The Pellek family home provided continuity and connection to place—he lived there for over [20] 55 years. These formative years were punctuated by World War II, the rhythms of small-town life, family bonds, and early adventures in the outdoors. Dick’s earliest explorations in nature evolved naturally into a lifelong engagement with hiking, camping, and learning through direct observation. His passion for the outdoors blossomed during his time as a Boy Scout, where he honed wilderness skills and developed what would become a lifelong impulse to explore the unknown1.
Only 2-3 incorrect dates occur in an otherwise excellent account of information gleaned from various sources. Since the Footloose Forester provided much of the basic information over a couple of decades, the old adage "garbage in-garbage out" was always a consideration in sharing information. AI, however, does editorialize a great deal.
