Jill, your description of your mum whipping out the dishes as you took your last bites at the evening tea reminds me of my wife who does the same thing! You accurate "catch" the flavor of the gender roles with mum working in the kitchen. It's too bad that she didn't include you in the cooking or other events that would have been memorable for you at a young age. Great story!
